Feeding America has produced a wonderful resource for learning about food insecurity in your county. Follow the link below to view data on King County and learn about how we compare to other nearby counties.

For the data period covered, King County shows that 12% of their population experiences food insecurity. That means that more than 1 in 10 families are experiencing stress and constant questions around whether they will be able to afford the basic food their family needs. We can assume the COVID-19 has only exacerbated the problem to much higher numbers.

What can you do to reach out to your neighbors and learn about how they experience food insecurity? Have a hard conversation, ask with humility, and let’s help close the gap in the needs of our neighbors.
